I am a big fan of Attack on Titan. And that’s saying something, since I describe the first five episodes as having your soul sliced repeatedly with a razor.
Seriously. You think my stuff is dark and hopeless? Attack on Titan showed me there’s a whole other level.
This show actually inspired the last 40% of Dusk Cursed. Not the content itself, but it drove me to make it darker and more hopeless than ever. If you’re not crumpled over in despair when you read the ending, I haven’t written it well enough. 😉
Although, I’ll admit, it will never be on the same level as Attack on Titan. It just can’t.
But when everything seems hopeless and we persevere anyway, amazing things can happen. And by amazing things, I mean that the title sequence for Attack on Titan and the new Sailor Moon anime match up perfectly.
Not just works. But every beat matches.
The Sailor Moon intro music adds a new ray of hope. Sure, they’re humans without superpowers who are slowly being destroyed by an enemy they’ve had no success fighting (ever), but if they just come together with the power of friendship, it’ll be all right.
Sailor Moon with the Attack on Titan intro is suddenly a whole lot darker. I would totally watch this.
And just for fun, the intro music for Knights of Sidonia, the amazing scifi Netflix anime. I love the military themes in the song. It works perfectly. It might even work well for Attack on Titan.
(Sorry, couldn’t find an actual opening video! But check it out on Netflix.)
Attack on Titan and Knights of Sidonia are both available on Netflix (hurray!), if you feel your soul has been a little too content lately.
Do you watch anime? What are you watching?
